Eat a Three-Course Dinner in Your Own Terrarium

Get tickets to San Diego pop-up “Dinner With a View” to enjoy a tasting menu by a high-profile chef

Looking for a truly unique dining experience? Head to San Diego from Feb. 6 through March 8 to eat a blind tasting menu in your own igloo-like dome at Dinner With A View. The outdoor pop-up will feature 33 individual terrariums set up at the waterfront Liberty Station, a former San Diego Naval Training Center.

Your three-course dinner will be prepared by award-winning chef Claudette Zepeda-Wilkins, who competed on Top Chef Season 15 and Top Chef Mexico and earned a James Beard semifinalist nomination during her tenure at El Jardín. Zepeda-Wilkins’ dinner will feature locally sourced ingredients, and guests have the option to choose a meat, fish, or vegan menu. Drink pairings will also be available at an extra cost.

Reservations are available online for seatings at 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. A minimum of four guests is required and there is a $199.99 fee (plus tax) for reserving your dome; up to six guests can be accommodated. (Note: As of presstime the event is 70 percent sold out, and there is also a limited-time deal that cuts the reservation fee in half.)

The Instagram-friendly domes will be outfitted with lights, plants, and luxurious textiles. Dinner With a View says each mini oasis will “correspond to a different region of the earth’s terroir: tundra, tropical, grasslands, arid, and boreal forest.”
