Combine top performers, top skiing and snowboarding, and a final-party-of-the-year spirit, and you know you’re in for a one-of-a-kind happening at the Snowglobe Music Festival. This South Lake Tahoe outdoor blowout, which boasts of being one of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties in the Golden State, is an annual three-day, multi-stage celebration all about mountains and music. Over 50 ultra-current performers—past headliners have included Chainsmokers, Travis Scott, and Zedd—keep things cranked up loud at the park-like (and often blanketed in snow) grounds of the town’s community college. MTV runs the show over at the Main Stage bar, curating an immersive mountain lodge experience. Between performances concertgoers can watch skiers and snowboarders put their world-class skills on display at the Big Air & Rail Jam, right next to the Main Stage all weekend long.
Visitors can also hang out at other gathering spots where wine and spiked hot drinks like Hot Toddys and Mexican Coffees are on the menu, and every year there are new activities and attractions to check out. Recent offerings have included interactive art installations and a heated lounge space with CBD oil items for sale.
Insider tips: This is one event where puffy down parkas win out over flowy festival wear; heated enclosures also help you warm up if dancing hasn’t done it for you. Also, convenient shuttles link the event to plentiful Stateline lodging, and rental lockers are available for you to safely stash your stuff so you can travel light while exploring the festival.
