Pinnacles National Park
With its towering, domed rock structures Pinnacles National Park is a natural wonder that still feels a bit off the beaten path. Spend the night surrounded by oak trees in the peaceful campgrounds on the east side. Chalk up, clip in, and climb one of the west side’s many rock climbing routes. Keep an eye out for the nearly 200 different bird species in the area, including the California condor. Then hike one of the many accessible—but still adventurous—trails.
