Amazing Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels

Stay near the Anaheim parks and make the most of amenities, from free breakfasts to relaxing pool cabanas and views of the fireworks

Between the rides, the characters, the Mickey beignets—and everything else in between—a trip to Disneyland Resort can be an immersive experience. Staying near the duo of theme parks makes it easy to extend that bubble of magic, and Disneyland offers three onsite hotels that fabulously complement both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, while also sitting next to the Downtown Disney District.

They aren't the only options, though. Beyond the onsite resorts is a network of "Good Neighbor Hotels" that offer their own easy access and a variety of vacation amenities.

What Are Good Neighbor Hotels?

Within a mile or so of the Anaheim parks are the 57 Good Neighbor Hotels that Disneyland has given its stamp of approval. These hotels have been vetted for both quality and distance from the parks; you can book them through the Disneyland site and they can also be part of value-added Disneyland vacation packages that bundle in your tickets.

While they have different designations across various price and amenity classes—from budget-friendly “Moderate” to amenity-rich “Deluxe,” “Suites,” and luxury-level “Superior”—Good Neighbor Hotels tend to have pools, and many of them have family-friendly options that include bunk beds. Some are independent and others are part of national chains—great if you want to earn or use points for your stay.

They also have their own special ways of appealing to fans, whether it’s Disney-related décor, free breakfasts, or views of the fireworks—or even a combination of those perks. One longtime favorite, for instance, has its own resident princess.

Getting to Disneyland from Good Neighbor Hotels

Most of the Good Neighbor Hotels are walkable to the parks or sit along the Anaheim Regional Transportation (ART) bus route, which you can catch to the parks for a fee (ART bus rates start at about $1 per day for kids and $5 for adults).

Check out all the options, including these hotels that excel at certain elements of a great Disneyland trip:

Super-Short Walk: Best Western Plus Park Place Inn - Mini Suites

Distance from parks: .3-mile walk

This mod-styled Best Western boasts of being the closest hotel to the park entrance, just a short walk across the crosswalk at Harbor Blvd. Plus, it offers free breakfast, an outdoor pool, and the Disney Channel in every room.

Awesome Pool Complex: Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim Theme Park Entrance

Distance from parks: .5-mile walk or ART bus ride

An onsite waterpark offers a nice reset after a day traversing the Matterhorn or a great downtime day between park visits. This Courtyard’s Surfside Waterpark features slides, a splash zone, a lap pool, and a kids’ pool with beach-style entry. Some rooms have bunk beds too.

For Families with Little Kids: Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground

Distance from parks: .5-mile walk or ART bus ride

Families love this HoJo that pops with color: Choose from standard rooms, rooms with bunk beds, or suites—some have Mickey-themed art as well. Best of all there’s a water park with a kiddie pool, splash zone and slides.

For a unique stay, book the hotel’s Room of the Future with midcentury modern and vintage decor, a kitchenette, and a record player stocked with vinyl.

Disney Lore: Fairfield by Marriott Anaheim Resort

Distance from parks: .5-mile walk

Want some serious Disney vibes? Request a themed room with Disneyland-inspired decor at this Fairfield and check out the art that lines the lobby. The family-friendly hotel also has an outdoor pool plus a game room. While there’s no restaurant on the property, it’s a very short walk to the neighboring Panera, IHOP, and McDonald’s.

Retro Street Cred: The Anaheim Hotel

Distance from parks: .5-mile walk or ART bus ride

This is the oldest of the Good Neighbor hotels, having first opened in 1959 under the name The Charter House Hotel (and later was a Hyatt). Today the revamped independent hotel exudes time-machine vibes thanks to its midcentury modern aesthetic, but it also has a large pool, lawn games, onsite pizzeria, and a TopGolf suite.  It’s also a short walk to the shops and restaurants of the Anaheim GardenWalk.

Free Parking: Hotel Indigo Anaheim

Distance from parks: .7-mile walk or ART bus ride

Free parking is a rarity in this area, but the Hotel Indigo offers that perk as well as no resort fee. The Indigo’s will appeal both to families and the Disney Adult crowd: there’s a pool, the Anaheim GardenWalk is next door, and grownups will like the craft cocktails at the onsite Chambers Bar & Bistro.

Luxury Resort Living: JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort

Distance from parks: .9-mile walk or ART bus ride

This AAA Four Diamond hotel is one of the most luxurious stays near the parks. Enjoy the rooftop bar, the Italian chophouse, and the pool with cabanas and pool beds. Choose from rooms that include bunk beds or some with theme park views.

Explore the rest of the area by booking the hotel’s shopping package that takes you to luxury retail hub South Coast Plaza in nearby Costa Mesa.

Free Breakfast and Budget Dining: Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort

Distance from parks: 1-mile walk or ART bus ride

The free breakfast buffet is a nice perk at this hotel comprised mostly of suites. Or you can always eat breakfast in your room, since all the rooms have full kitchens—many even with a full-sized fridge. There’s also an outdoor pool.

Great for Watching the Fireworks: The Westin Anaheim Resort

Distance from parks: 1.1-mile walk or ART bus ride

After a day in the park, hotel guests can head to the Westin’s Rise Rooftop Lounge for a clear view of California Adventure plus the nightly Disneyland fireworks.

Foodies will appreciate this hotel too: The onsite selection includes a Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, the seasonally inspired Tangerine, and a branch of the acclaimed SoCal Mexican restaurant Puesto. The AAA Four Diamond hotel offers plenty of rooms with their own park views and a pool with cabanas.

Fairytale Fans: Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel

Distance from parks: 1.3-mile walk or a free ride on the hotel’s Dream Machine Shuttle

Though the hotel’s decor is not officially Disney-themed, this lodging has a distinct fairytale theme—and even its own princess, Corinne, who does meet-and-greets, story times, and appearances at seasonal movie nights. Choose from themed rooms such as Castle (some with bunk beds built into a castle structure), Enchanted Suites equipped with kid tents, and a unique room called Sargon’s Darkwood Chamber.

The hotel also has a pool, game room, and an evening magic show—plus their own free shuttle to the parks.

Disney Adults: The Viv Hotel

Distance from parks: 1.6-mile drive or ART bus ride

Grown-ups get the rooftop pool and bar to themselves at this boutique hotel where the top, adults-only level offers nice views of the evening fireworks.

All ages of Star Wars fans will love this hotel, too, thanks to the selfie-ready Stormtrooper statues in the lobby. The hotel also has a family pool and many rooms have Disney-themed art, bunk beds, or park views.

More Things to Do Near Good Neighbor Hotels

Beyond being prime home bases for Disneyland days, the Good Neighbor Hotels can also serve as an easy—and often very affordable—launching pad for exploring the rest of Southern California.

Orange County’s best beaches, for instance (like those in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, and Dana Point), are all about a half-hour drive from Anaheim. Hollywood is an hour away, and you can even do easy day trips to Carlsbad or Temecula.

Plus, you’re right next to the Anaheim train station: Check out the Pacific Surfliner route to nearby cities such as San DiegoLos Angeles, and Santa Barbara.
