Here’s a unique way to ring in 2018: zooming through the air on the Forbidden Journey of Harry Potter, or whooping it up with Homer Simpson. Universal Studios Hollywood has seriously upped the ante with its holiday offerings this year, including a New Year’s Eve bash called Eve.
While fans have long come to the studio-tour-plus-theme-park during the holiday season for its Who-Ville-inspired Grinchmas, this year the park has decked the halls and then some, especially within its version of Hogsmeade. This year's Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has brought lights, decor, a Holiday Frog Choir, and digital images inspired by the Harry Potter films projected against Hogwarts castle.
Also, the park will officially celebrate New Year’s Eve for the first time this year. Three areas within the park— Universal Plaza, Simpsons Plaza, and the area near Jurassic Park—The Ride—will act as party hubs with DJs, live music (starting at 9pm) and a countdown at midnight, followed by fireworks. You can always toast the New Year with a Squishee near the Simpsons Ride, but New Year’s Eve at the park will also include the availability of champagne, beer, and wine.
Another New Year’s Eve nerve center will be at Universal CityWalk, next to the theme park, where the party at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville will last until 2am. Entry to Eve is included in the price of that day’s park admission. Christmas celebrations in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, meanwhile, will run through January 7.
