1. The Rind
With Monday Fondue Nights, irresistible mac & cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, and pairings with California craft beers, The Rind is a decidedly modern take on a classic cheese shop.

2. Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates
Chocolatier and pastry chef Ginger Elizabeth Hahn will test your self-control with such creations as her caramelized milk and coffee chocolates and Parisian macaron ice cream sandwiches.

3. Devine Gelateria & Cafe
On a hot summer day, chill out with a gelato or sorbetto from owner Elizabeth McCleary, who uses premium imported Italian chocolate as well as seasonal local fruit in the flavors that she crafts daily.

4. Mulvaney’s B&L
The menu changes daily at this destination for handcrafted New American cuisine, thanks to executive chef and owner Patrick Mulvaney’s commitment to sourcing from local farms and ranches. Enjoy such seasonal favorites as seared day-boat sea scallops in the renovated 1893 firehouse or on the shaded patio.

5. Federalist Public House
Its long communal wooden tables, set within a space created from modified shipping containers, give this restaurant and beer house its distinctive rustic and industrial feel. Come here for wood-fired pizzas and to play bocce on the restaurant’s court.

6. LowBrau
Describing itself as a modern take on the traditional German Bierhalle, this is the place to go when only the wurst will do. An airy space clad in rustic wood planking, it offers house-made gourmet sausages, including bratwurst and merguez, along with a wide selection of salads and sandwiches.

7. Midtown Farmers’ Market
Hang with the locals at this Saturday urban cornucopia filled with the freshest of produce from area growers. There are monthly chef demonstrations, and you can graze your way through a selection of prepared-food vendors, including the brisket and Kalua pork from the Haole Pig BBQ Co.
