What happens when you combine red carpet glamour with free-flowing alcohol and a room full of Hollywood superstars? Why, the Golden Globe Awards, of course!
The 75th edition of this always-engaging spectacle, the unofficial kickoff of 2018 awards season, begins at 5 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at the Beverly Hills Hilton. Millions will be watching on NBC as host Seth Meyers emcees the show and Oprah Winfrey accepts the Cecil B. deMille Award for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.
Lady Bird is nominated for Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy and both Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf received acting nods for the Sacramento-based film. Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman will be competing against one another for their work in Big Little Lies, which was nominated in the Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category.
Thinking about attending? Um, you may want to think again. The Golden Globes are an intimate affair with a very exclusive guest list. In fact, a Hollywood Foreign Press Association member was banned for two years when tickets assigned to him were scalped for $39,000 online.
Red carpet access is available through the hotel as part of a room package deal but those bleacher seats are long gone for the 2018 ceremony. Start planning—and saving—now for the 2019 gala. There are plenty of parties around town, of course, and strategic loitering could produce a celeb sighting or two.
Beyond the Golden Globes, there are countless things to see and do in Beverly Hills, and we've even put together a video to showcase a handul of the amazing adventures that can be had in this one-of-a-kind destination. Check it out above, plan a visit, and get a taste of what it's like to live like George Clooney or Emily Blunt—even if you can't exactly hang out with them.
