If you’ve ever dreamed of dining with California’s top winemakers, you’ll want to head up—literally, to 7,910 feet—to Northstar California Resort. The North Lake Tahoe resort’s annual Mountain Table Dinner series started in January, but there are two more chances in 2018 to enjoy a five-course, family-style meal from Zephyr Lodge Chef Aramis Torres paired with wines from renowned California vintners.
Discerning diners can take the Zephyr Express gondola up the mountain to the Lodge, or ascend via a Snowcat-drawn sleigh. Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the wintery Tahoe valley, live music, tantalizing dishes, and access to some of the most influential wine purveyors California Wine Country has to offer.
The series kicked off January 12 and featured Healdsburg-based vintner Lisa Evich, and winemaker Chrissy Wittman of Prisoner Wine Company in Rutherford was featured at the February 2 dinner.
You can buy tickets to the remaining two dinners online. Proceeds from each event will go to Tahoe Food Hub, a Truckee-based non-profit dedicated to supporting the region’s food economy.
Here’s a rundown of the remaining February and March Mountain Table Dinner series:
Charles Krug Winery Mountain Table Dinner
February 16
Charles Krug co-proprietor and Wine Country superstar Peter Mondavi headlines the third event in the series. Foodies can look forward to a worldly culinary tour that pairs elements of French and Asian cuisine with the famous Napa-made wines.
Rodney Strong Vineyards Mountain Table Dinner
March 9
Fifth-generation vintner Ryan Decker will bring his expertise from the Healdsburg vineyards to match a carnivore’s delight: four courses of salmon, quail, pork, and steak. Topped off, of course, with pumpkin spice cake and a Knotty Vines Zinfandel.
