Here’s an excellent excuse to take a family trip to LEGOLAND California Resort next year around the kids’ birthdays: During 2019, any child age 12 and under can get free admission to the Carlsbad theme park on his or her big day.
After all, LEGOLAND is celebrating its own birthday—or really, its 20th Anniversary—all year long. The north San Diego County park has come a long way since 1999, when it opened with just 12 rides and the LEGO-brick-constructed landscape of Miniland U.S.A. Today there are more than 60 rides, shows and attractions, along with the SEA LIFE aquarium, LEGOLAND Water Park, LEGOLAND Hotel, and the new LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, which opened earlier this year.
LEGOLAND recently announced a number of ways that the park will celebrate during 2019. A few new shows will debut, like a LEGO Friends Live Character and Dance Party and the animated LEGO® City 4D- Officer in Pursuit. In February (Feb. 16–17 and 23–24), The LEGO® Movie Days will celebrate the debut of feature film The LEGO® Movie™ 2: The Second Part, with character meet-and-greets, a themed scavenger hunt, and building activities. For little kids, the DUPLO Playtown area will also get a makeover, including a new LEGOLAND Express train.
All year, check out the park’s seven-foot LEGO birthday cake, made of more than 51,000 LEGO bricks. To get a free ticket for your future birthday boy or girl, go to LEGOLAND.com/birthday and input your email address to get into the system; after that, you can book your free ticket online. Admission includes entry to both the water park and aquarium, too.
