Themed Lands

Themed Lands

Discover the Magic at Disneyland's Themed Lands, from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and more.

From glimpses of the future at Tomorrowland to the rustic world of Frontierland, the scenery changes quickly at the Disneyland Resort theme parks. With nine distinct themed lands to explore, you'll embark on a magical journey that spans across time and space, all the while immersing you in the vibrant storytelling that the Anaheim resort is famous for.

New Orleans Square and Adventureland

Begin your adventure by taking a cruise on the raucous Pirates of the Caribbean ride (and keep an eye out for portrayals of Johnny Depp as the devilish Captain Jack Sparrow). Afterward, step outside to the smell of fresh beignets at New Orleans Square, where you can also catch live jazz performances and soak up the charm of the French Quarter. The Haunted Mansion, another go-to attraction at New Orleans Square, invites brave souls to explore a scary estate filled with 999 happy haunts. Experience the eerie mansion and witness supernatural occurrences that are both spine-tingling and whimsical.

Next, venture into Adventureland, where you'll encounter an array of exotic sights and sounds. Navigate your way through the steamy perils of the Jungle Cruise or brave the forbidden curses of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye on the thrilling Indiana Jones Adventure.

Frontierland and Critter Country

Experience the Wild West in Frontierland, with its rugged, rustic atmosphere. Hop aboard the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for a thrilling ride through an abandoned mine, or board the Mark Twain Riverboat for a leisurely cruise around the Rivers of America. If all this rambling around has you working up a thirst, grab a drink and learn about the folklore of the American frontier at the immersive Golden Horseshoe restaurant and saloon.

Nestled nearby along the Rivers of America, Critter Country puts you in the middle of a lush, woods-filled environment. For decades, the land was home to the now-closed Splash Mountain; that thrilling log flume ride will be reimagined as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, due to open in 2024. Nearby, young fans of the A.A. Milne classic Winnie the Pooh can experience the rustic wilderness of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride, joining the honey-loving bear and his motley group of friends on a delightful journey through the Hundred Acre Wood.

Fantasyland and Mickey's Toontown

It’s a quick walk to Fantasyland, where little ones can catch a ride on an elephant on the classic Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, and pint-size princesses wait with wild-eyed anticipation to meet Elsa, Ariel, Belle, and other classic Disney heroines at the Royal Hall. Disney fans of all ages will find plenty of timeless cultural references: The classic rides here include tips of the hat to Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, and even The Wind in the Willows (Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, one of the park’s original rides, was loosely based on the children’s classic).

Continue the fun at Mickey's Toontown, where you can visit the whimsical homes of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other beloved characters. Kids will love cruising through the ever-changing animated scenes of Toontown’s featured ride, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, exploring the sights and sounds of CenTOONial Park, experimenting with the noise-making gadgets at Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard, and more.

Tomorrowland and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Journey to the future at Tomorrowland, where a timeless salute to space and ocean exploration. Travel into the deep and see Dory and the gang on the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, zap your opponents with lasers in the Toy Story-inspired Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and blast off on Space Mountain—a high-speed, outer space-themed roller coaster that sends you hurtling through the darkened cosmos.

Feeling the pull of The Force? Head to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where several immersive adventures will transport you to a galaxy far, far away. After designing your own custom lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop, pilot the Millennium Falcon on Smugglers Run or join a battle against the First Order on the exhilarating Rise of the Resistance.

Main Street, U.S.A.

Finally, make your way to turn-of-the-century, small-town America at Main Street, U.S.A., lined with treasure-trove stores and classic Disneylannd eateries like the Jolly Holliday Bakery Café.  You can also take a few different rides here. Start with the steam-powered Disneyland Railroad, which will take you on a relaxing tour of the park. Other vintage Main Street vehicles include a horse-drawn street carriage, a replica of an antique fire engine, a roofless jitney, and an open-air two-story bus.
