California Questionnaire: Brianne Howey

The ‘Ginny & Georgia’ star reveals her favorite Golden State hideaways and the itinerary to the perfect L.A. day

Don’t be fooled by her character’s name and thick Southern accent on the hit Netflix series Ginny & GeorgiaBrianne Howey, who plays Georgia Miller, was actually born and raised in Southern California, growing up in La Cañada Flintridge

Howey’s appeared in several popular TV series including 90210The Exorcist, and Batwoman She recently appeared in Kinda Pregnant as Amy Schumer’s unfiltered, expectant-mother friend, bringing both humor and honesty to the role. Her film credits also include Dear Santa, opposite Jack Black and Horrible Bosses 2, alongside Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston.

Ginny & Georgia’s much anticipated third season—its second spent almost two months in the streaming service’s global top 10—kicks off in June 2025. Below, the California native shares all of her favorite things to do, see, and eat across the Golden State when she’s not busy on set.

Where do you live? Los Angeles.

Why there? I love L.A. I am very biased, though, as I grew up here, and my family and work are here, too!

Who or what is your greatest California love? The Hollywood Bowl. It’s a magical venue and will always hold a special place in my heart.

My family has a long history of having summer jobs at “The Bowl,” myself included. I worked in the “operations office,” ensuring all operations were running smoothly! The artists had their special passes, the lost and found, counting the valet tickets at the end of the night, etc. Best job ever.

What is the biggest misperception about Californians? Everyone’s vegan and/or a celebrity

What is the stereotype that most holds true? There are a lot of electric cars

What is your favorite Golden State splurge? Hotel Bel-Air is one of my favorite destinations. It’s insanely peaceful and beautiful. You feel like you’re far from home. The spa is divine, and the secluded bar is a hidden gem.

Time for a road trip—where are you going? Santa Barbara is one of the most special parts of California for me. It’s coastal charm at its finest and it’s full of history.

We love driving up the PCH, stopping at La Super-Rica Taqueria on the way in and In-N-Out on the way back home. My musts while we’re there are going to Hendry’s dog beach and shopping along State Street.

If you could decree an official state culinary experience, what would it be? Mexican food! California is blessed with amazing food across all cuisines, but I miss Mexican food the most when I’m away from home. Nowhere else compares for me.

I love Tere’sEl CholoTacos Por Favor and Frida Tacos around Los Angeles. A chicken tortilla soup is one way to my heart.

What is your favorite way to play in California? Hiking, the beach, all outdoor dining, Griffith ObservatoryLACMA [the Los Angeles County Museum of Art], farmers’ markets, and The Getty.

Where would you go for the ultimate shopping spree in California? The Brentwood Country Mart. They have a great blend of everyday and special-occasion clothes, gifts, and accessories. It’s family-friendly and pure California lifestyle. Not to mention great restaurants and treats!

Best California song? California Dreamin’” by The Mamas & The Papas. I think of this song all the time when I’m away and missing home! Especially the weather

How would your California dream day unfold? I’d wake up and get some Caffe Luxxe on the way to hike the Santa Monica Mountains with my friends and our dogs.

Then enjoy an afternoon at LACMA with sandwiches from Larchmont Village Wine. Catch a movie at New Beverly Cinema and then an early dinner at home ordering in Kismet Rotisserie. Perfection!
