Coronavirus In California - Travel Information
With one of the nation’s highest vaccination rates and lowest case rates, California is open to welcome visitors.
Large events (over 10,000 people outdoors or 1,000 indoors), including theme parks and large sporting events, may have vaccination or testing requirements. Attendees should check guidelines with event operators when buying tickets or making reservations.
Masks are required for everyone in indoor public settings in many counties, including Los Angeles, and recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control for indoor public settings in most of the state.

California Wildfires - Travel Information
As is typical during the West’s fire season, there are several active fires in California. Most are burning in rural, mountainous regions in the inland north part of the state.
The city of South Lake Tahoe is under an evacuation warning because of the Caldor Fire, and Highway 50 remains closed to the west of the city. Visitors should avoid the area. The U.S. Forest Service has announced a temporary closure of all National Forests in California, effective from Aug. 31 to Sept. 17. This order does not affect the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, which is not in the Pacific Southwest Region. Yosemite and other national parks remain open.
For current fire and road conditions across California, visit Cal Fire and Caltrans. Access air quality information at West Coast Travel Facts. In the Tahoe area, visitors should check with Tahoe South and North Lake Tahoe websites. In the far north near the Dixie Fire, visitors can check the Shasta-Cascade Wonderland Association website for updates.
