The name Sama Sama means “you’re welcome” in Indonesian, and this global-cuisine restaurant along Santa Barbara’s State Street certainly feels inviting. The menu at Sama Sama Kitchen balances the exotic with the super-local: Chef Ryan Simorangkir, who grew up in Indonesia, created this menu based on his family recipes and the local street food, while utilizing whatever was fresh and in season from the farms in and around Santa Barbara and the surrounding Snata Ynez Valley.
