Out in the mountains of the High Sierra, you can still find working cattle ranches that have been passed on for generations. Sidetracked Magazine sent writer and photographer Jess McGlothlin to Hunewill Ranch in Bridgeport, about an hour north of Mammoth Lakes, to see if she had what it takes as a cowgirl. This was by no means a holiday. In addition to exploring the beautiful mountains and valleys of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest on her trusty stead, Blaze, McGlothlin took on daily ranch chores, including cattle-wrangling and horse-tending.
