With the nickname “America’s farm-to-fork capital,” it is only appropriate that Sacramento celebrates the bounty sourced from 1.4 million acres/570,000 hectares of surrounding farmland with this unique food event.
Filling several blocks of downtown’s Capitol Mall and spilling onto side streets, this foodie festival is not focused on a single fruit or vegetable. Instead, it honours the full range of foods grown or produced in California’s heartland, the source of more than 300 individual crops. Sample locally sourced olive oil, cheese, fresh produce, and wine. Watch cooking demonstrations by area chefs, or discover how to use seasonal ingredients in artisan cocktails. Graze your way through a big selection of food vans in between listening to live country, indie rock, and other music.
The festival is part of a larger two-week celebration that kicks off with a tractor parade and concludes with a truly amazing gala dinner served atop Sacramento’s iconic Tower Bridge.
