California Wildfire Travel Update

Removed from Likes

Dry conditions have ignited several wildfires in California, affecting travel in parts of the state. Due to wind patterns, air quality has become an issue beyond these burn zones.

As a precaution, federal officials have closed some national forests to camping, hiking and other recreational activities. Check here for restrictions in specific forests. Yosemite National Park and Kings Canyon National Park have reopened but Sequoia National Park remains closed. Active fires may limit access to some roads and travel destinations, including state parks.

Travelers should call ahead to lodging providers and visitors’ bureaus at their intended destinations.

Anyone sensitive to air quality levels should consult real-time resources and refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s tips for protecting yourself from wildfire smoke.
