Looking for your next romantic getaway? You should put the lavish oceanfront Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito (near Santa Barbara) on your list. The 161-room luxury resort, which opened in March 2019, is located 80 miles from Los Angeles and covers 16 acres of beachfront property.
The resort was conceived by Rick Caruso, the real estate mogul behind luxury shopping centers The Grove in L.A. and Palisades Village in Pacific Palisades. He wanted the hotel to have a residential feel, and to achieve that he even hired his personal decorator, Diane Johnson. “We’re breaking every rule, because I’m not a hotel,” Caruso told the L.A. Times. “I’m welcoming people to my home. I don’t want to do what everyone else does.”
The rooms are a collections of cottage bungalows, beachfront suites, private homes, starting around $800/night during peak season. The property features seven restaurants, retail stores, two swimming pools, custom Jolly cars, and so much more. Click through to see more of this dreamy resort.
Just because it's a fancy resort doesn't mean that Rosewood Miramar Beach doesn't have a playful side, too. Bocce ball courts and lawn games are available for guests, and the hotel even hosts tournaments on occasion—like this year's Father's Day Beer & Bocce Tournament with local craft brews and entertainment for kids.
The hotel features the first outpost of the popular farm-to-table restaurant Malibu Farms, with super-fresh, locally sourced ingredients from Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Start your morning with California breakfast staples such as avocado toast, acai bowls, or a Santa Barbara Farmers Market Skillet. And don't miss the mimosa bar and fresh-squeezed juices, including kale-apple or orange-beet-carrot.
The Pacific isn’t the only tempting body of water at this beachfront property. Guests have two fabulous pools to choose from: The adults-only Cabana Pool, with 19 luxury cabanas and a scalloped-edge design, or the family-friendly Manor Pool, which gives you easy access to the Scoop Shop for an afternoon ice cream cone.
There are seven culinary outposts onsite, and at Caruso's, Rosewood Miramar Beach's signature restaurant, you can enjoy the flavors of Southern Italy while dining al fresco on the patio with panoramic ocean views. At the helm is chef Massimo Falsini, who previously headed the kitchen at the Michelin-starred Solbar at Napa Valley's Solage resort.
