Explore the adventurous side of Napa Valley and Sonoma on this exciting journey through California’s wine country.

Trip length: 5 days
Total distance: 82.6 mi/132.2 km

Day 1
Begin at Ram’s Gate Winery in the rolling Sonoma hills. Explore the beautiful farmland and eclectic mix of contemporary architecture. Travel northward to Sonoma’s Square , where shopping, art galleries and California’s largest Mission-era plaza await. Walk from the square and experience seasonal produce and Farm to Table food at the El Dorado Kitchen . And be sure to test your knowledge at the Culinary Institute of America , a haven for foodies and future master chefs.

Day 2 (28.3 mi/45.3 km; 54 min)
Leave your car behind and take a ride on Mr. Zin’s chauffeured wine tour. Your driver will take you to your favorite wineries or secluded picnic spots. Make sure to test their extensive knowledge of the area and ask them about their favorite locations. Have them drop you off at Kunde Estate Winery & Vineyards , where a guide will take you through 5 million year-old volcanic rock tunnels. Peek inside and see the Cave Club VIP dining room over 175 feet below ground.

Day 3 (35.7 mi/57.1 km; 44 min)
Take a seat on the Napa Valley Wine Train’s Pullman Dining Car for a three-hour, 36 mile round-trip scenic tour of the area. View the majestic landscape surrounding the valley’s world-renowned vineyards as you sip some of Napa’s best vintages. End the afternoon at the Oxbow Public Market  and grab some tasty treats at the Pica Pica Maize Kitchen , a Venezuelan and Latin-style cuisine.

Day 4 (9.1 mi/14.6 km; 15 min)
Bring your appetite with you to Yountville , where Napa Valley’s first vineyards are rumored to have been planted. Dine at Thomas Keller’s world-famous French Laundry , where master chefs create two nine-course tasting menus daily (make sure to make reservations well in advance). A visit here is about more than the mouth-watering food, it is a truly extraordinary experience.
