San Diego’s 70 miles of coastline and fantastic attractions make this the perfect California vacation. Come year-round for a taste of the Golden State’s true goods.

Trip Time: 6 days

Day 1
Start your Southern California adventure in Carlsbad , famous as a spa town. Have some fun wandering around the small downtown, filled with antique stores. If you are here March through May, don’t forget to visit the Flower Fields , filled with beautiful ranunculus.

Head to the nearby Carlsbad Premium Outlets after taking in the flowers. This mall has more than 90 outlet stores including Coach, Juicy Couture and Barneys New York.

Day 2
Play at Legoland California , and bring the kids! They’ll love this exciting Lego theme park, including the Land of Adventure and Sea Life Aquarium. After the little ones are exhausted, stroll through Quail Botanical Gardens . This vast botanical garden, with 35 acres of exhibits, features more than 4,000 species.

Enjoy dinner at Sky Room at La Valencia Hotel . La Jolla is a beautiful resort. Since it’s one of the most upscale residential areas in Southern California, the city has many luxurious restaurants. The choice is hard, but you will enjoy dinner at Sky Room at La Valencia Hotel, a La Jolla landmark. At this recently renovated restaurant, you can enjoy California cuisine overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Day 3
Today, experience San Diego Zoo Safari Park , a safari-style park with a 2,200-acre preserve. You can watch animals such as cheetahs, giraffes and rhinos. Then, head to Birch Aquarium . The Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego is widely known as the leading oceanography research center in the world. The aquarium operated by the institution is the largest oceanographic exhibit in the world. There are more than 30 tanks, and you can watch many different living creatures in the water.

Finish your day with shopping at the Horton Plaza . The shopping mall located in the center of Downtown San Diego has more than 200 stores. In addition to two department stores, Macy’s and Nordstrom, you will find popular designer brand, such as Louis Vuitton and Coach.

Day 4
Visit a true California icon – SeaWorld California , a marine-life amusement park. The most popular attraction here is “Believe,” a show performed by ever-beloved Shamu the killer whale. In addition to exciting shows and exhibitions, there are dynamic rides such as “Journey to Atlantis.” Both kids and adults can enjoy this unique park for a whole day.

In the evening, stroll around Mission Beach , located north of downtown and west of Mission Bay. Enjoy the relaxing moment by browsing stores at the boardwalk or walking down on the beach, watching the sunset.

Day 5
Catch some more creatures at the San Diego Zoo . This is one of most notable zoos in the world, with nearly 4,000 animals of some 800 diverse species in hospitable, expertly crafted habitats that replicate natural environments as closely as possible. Visitors’ favorite is the giant panda family.

After playing with pandas, visit Old Town San Diego State Historic Park . This is where the 2nd biggest city in California was born. The first mission in California was built here in 1769. You can see well-preserved historic buildings and re-created buildings built from1821 to 1872. Only 10 minutes away is the trendy Gaslamp Quarter . The area contains 100-plus stylish restaurants, nightclubs and boutiques, and is always busy with a lot of people, especially on the weekend.

Day 6
Finish your museum meanderings with trips to three more. Enjoy art at the San Diego Museum of Art , known for its extensive collection of Renaissance paintings, Asian art and modern sculptures. Next, visit San Diego Maritime Museum , which exhibits the history of ships. You can experience being on board three historic ships. Finally, visit the Museum of History and Art , which exhibits the history of Coronado.

Relax with a stroll around Coronado Beach , located on the ocean side of Coronado island, south of the naval air station, past the Hotel Del Coronado. Swim, surf, sail, bodyboard, fish or just fall asleep in the sun. The beach is popular among locals as a surf and bodyboard spot. Don’t miss Hotel Del Coronado . This hotel, which was built in 1888, has been a national historic landmark since 1977. The best way to enjoy this beautiful hotel is to stay here, yet just a cup of tea at the terrace with ocean view makes you feel like one of the royals. Cap off your trip with a Major Leagure Baseball game at PETCO Park, home of the popular San Diego Padres.
