Catch a wave--or just watch others do it--along the super-sunny southern tip of California.

With its reliably sunny weather and 70 miles of coastline, San Diego County is a true surfer’s paradise. Popular spots like Pipes Beach and Encinitas offer awesome waves for beginners and pros alike, but are also big with the diving crowd. Local towns have long and storied histories with surfing--a point made pretty clear as you see all those coastal road signs indicating surfer crossings. The strip of sand known as Swami’s, at the southern end of Encinitas, is famous for world-class surfing.
