Experience priceless beauty from sunrise to sunset.
If you’re heading to Manhattan Beach for some fun, make sure to bring a volleyball. This is where the pros practice their spiking and blocking on a daily basis next to amateurs honing their skills on one of the public courts along the beach. And if you’re lucky, you are likely to catch one of beach volleyball’s biggest tournaments, such as the Manhattan Beach Open , the one that started it all.
Aside from volleyball, there is plenty of room to catch some rays, swim, rollerblade, or bike on this clean stretch of beach. You can also take a walk along the 22-mile oceanside pathway known as the Strand and gawk at the gorgeous homes, stroll down the Manhattan Beach Pier and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Pacific, do a bit of shopping at the boutiques, and grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, ice cream shops, or burger joints. As night falls, sip a “Sunset Over Manhattan” cocktail at the Strand Bar and watch the sunset.
Insider’s Tip: One of the best places to rent bikes or boogie boards is Funnbunns (1116 Manhattan Ave./ 310-372-8500).
