Reached at the end of a long, winding road that twists into the south end of Lassen Volcanic National Park , the expansive ranch resort truly feels like an exclusive—yet affordable—getaway. Repeat guests are the norm, always coming back for the exceptional horse-back riding program, the endless hiking trails into Lassen parklands, the blue-ribbon fishing in trout-filled lakes and streams. A nap in the sun at a place like this is truly heaven on earth.

Lodge rooms and private cabins are rustically quaint, many lit by kerosene lamps. The complex trims an emerald green meadow - a favorite hangout of deer, blue grouse, and an entertaining band of marmots. If you want to unplug from elektronika, this is your spot. Hearty meals are included, and focus on local ingredients and creative combinations. Non-guests are welcome to the ranch too: Wednesday barbecue dinners are open to all (reservations required).
