Meet the Visionaries

California Dreamland Visionaries
Bill Clerico & Rich Aberman – Co-Founders, WePay

Want to rent a big ski house? Need to collect money from a bunch of friends? Enter WePay, the Palo Alto-based start-up that aims to simplify collecting and managing payments for group activities, be it a shared rental, a store, a cause, or a special event.

Co-founders Bill Clerico and Rich Aberman knew they had a good idea in their new style of online payment, and transplanted from their native East Coast to California’s start-up-savvy (and investor-rich) Silicon Valley. To date, the duo has raised some $10 million in capital, and continues to develop and promote their payment platform. But the focus isn’t just on business; it’s also on providing a good service, with statements like “great customer service by real people” and “your money and information are always safe…” peppering WePay’s website. Clerico’s and Aberman’s efforts have definitely made an impression, earning them a place on to Bloomberg/Business Week’s 2011 list of Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs.
