Take a Spin on the American River Trail

Urban trailways don't get much prettier than Sacramento's Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail .

This paved pathway winds for 32 scenic miles along the banks of the American River from Sacramento’s Discovery Park (at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers) to Beal’s Point at Folsom Lake. Along the way, enjoy towering oaks and cottonwoods, river views, avian life from wild turkeys to waterfowl and a host of picturesque picnic stops. The trail originally was marked out by an early cycling organization in the 19th century; today, it remains a favorite among cyclists.
