|Learn About Lemons at Limoneira Ranch|
Ranch tours, bocce ball, and hot air balloon rides sweeten the deal
Sure you can take a walking tour of the Limoneira Ranch . You can hop in a jeep or a trolley too to explore this sprawling facility north of Santa Barbara. But a hot air balloon ride gives you the best perspective on one of the largest producers of lemons and avocados in the United States.
Sip lemonade while drifting above some 7,300 acres of fruit trees, following the Santa Clara River through Heritage Valley and Ventura County’s agricultural flatlands to the coast. Back at the ranch, tour historical packing houses, roll a bocce ball on one of 12 courts, and peruse freshly made lemon- and avocado-based skincare products in the visitor center.
Things to do don’t stop there. Watch miniature sheep nibble away beneath the panels of a five-acre solar orchard—an organic and sustainable way to control vegetation. If your visit coincides with one of Limoneira’s orchard dinners—al fresco celebrations of Ventura County food and wine—you’re in for a gastronomic treat.
