The Solar Living Institute has been a non-profit solar training organization promoting sustainable living and environmental education. 94 miles north of San Francisco, the Institute makes for an incredible day or weekend getaway to Mendocino County.
It is also home to the Solar Living Center, a 12-acre renewable energy and sustainable living demonstration site, with over 200,000 visitors a year. In addition, the institute is home to a Biodiesel Fueling Station, which teaches visitors the importance of using alternative fuels. Guests can also visit the Organic Gardens, a farm that produces fruits and vegetables sold seasonally at a farm stand on site.
