Santa Barbara's beautiful South Coast sunny days invite you to explore outdoors all year round, but there is something magical to see during the special months of November through February. Nature's wonders cause Monarch Butterflies to migrate to Goleta and make the butterfly grove their temporary home.

As you walk through the grove, you are able to pick your path and discover your own adventure through the trees as the butterflies fly above and around you. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring binoculars to maximize your visit. After you have been wowed by the butterflies, you can explore even more beautiful territory. The grove is adjacent to the Sperling Preserve on the Ellwood Mesa, which includes 137 acres of natural terrain and easy beach access.

Insider's Tip: Plan to spend at least an hour exploring the grove, and even more time soaking up the sand and shores of Goleta’s coastline.
