California Fives

Lower Yosemite Falls Hike
Yosemite National Park

This is a great, easy hike with incredible views of the upper and lower falls in the early summer months, and if you like, you can take your dog (leashed).
Dewey Point
Yosemite National Park

This is a wonderful hike out to the south rim of the Valley. It provides exceptional views of El Capitan and is pratically deserted compared to other hikes off of Glacier Point Road.
Base of El Capitan
Yosemite National Park

I not only do this hike everytime I go to climb El Cap, but it is just a great hike to take you to the base of El Capitan. You park in El Cap Meadow and find a faint trail leading to the base. Once there, you can stare up and see tiny dots that are climbers making their way up the wall.
Inspiration Point
Yosemite National Park

This is a short, but steep hike that provides incredible and breathtaking views of the entire Valley.
Valley Floor Loop
Yosemite National Park

You can make this a short walk or a very long walk. The partially paved trail weaves all around the Valley Floor, taking you from Mirror Lake all the way down past El Capitan. It is really nice to walk through the Valley Floor and feel like you have the place to yourself.
