The crossroads of the major I-215 and I-10 freeways, San Bernardino Valley is located between Los Angeles and Palm Springs. The historic Route 66 Highway travels through the Inland Empire, a cultural region within a short drive to some of California's best-known attractions and destinations.

1. Isn’t San Bernardino known for being on Route 66?  Are there any celebrations surrounding Route 66?
The Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous is an annual event held the third week of every September as a celebration of the Mother Road – Route 66.  Over 500,000 spectators line the streets to see the 1,700 classic cars relive the days of traveling this fabulous highway.  Live entertainment, celebrity guests, contests, carnival rides, great food and so much more are available during this 4-day car extravaganza.  Free to the public!  www.ROUTE-66.org for more details.

2. Are there any casino’s close by for gambling or live entertainment?
The San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino is located at 777 San Manuel Blvd., Highland California.  This casino has 3,000 slot machines, a 2,500-seat bingo hall, poker games, blackjack, Pai Gow and more.  Some of the finest restaurants in the area are located within the casino.  Must be 21 to enter.  Go to www.sanmanuel.com for more information.

3. How long does it take to get to Big Bear Mountains?  What is there to do there?
Big Bear is located within a one hour drive from San Bernardino and there are many activities available throughout the year.  In the winter, Big Bear is famous for skiing and snowboarding.  The 27-mile lake hosts great fishing tournaments, water skiing and boating.  Go to www.bigbear.com for a complete list of activities.

4. Any historical sites within San Bernardino to visit?
The California Theatre of the Performing Arts is a historical site located in downtown San Bernardino and hosts many Broadway stage productions such as Wizard of Oz, Grease, and Phantom of the Opera, as well as many other musical events by the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra, Theater Arts International and more.  Built in 1928 in opulent Spanish/Moorish style, it is preserved beautifully both inside and out.  Visit www.californiatheatre.net for a list of upcoming events.
